Playa Ocotal is the gate to the Golfo de Papagayo. It is a small (about 700 meters), but attractive beach located about 4 kilometers from Playas del Coco. Ocotal is protected by hills and cliffs of 80-million-year old sedimentary metamorphic rocks. It is the cleanest and most quiet beach in the area, and it offers perfect conditions for swimming and snorkeling. Scuba diving is available, and nearby Catalina Island is a recommended diving spot - the best place to see schools of rays, including the giant manta rays. 

Playa Ocotal will certainly please those travelers who are looking for a quiet retreat away from the bustling crowds. Nevertheless, staying closely to Playas del Coco, all the amenities of town will remain just a short drive away.
